1. About West Highland Way Tips & Tricks
West Highland Way Tips & Tricks (“WHW Tips & Tricks”, “we”, “us”) is an independent online community and information hub created to share advice, experiences, recommendations and general guidance relating to the West Highland Way.
We are not a tour operator, travel agent, accommodation provider or transport provider. We do not sell holidays, walking packages or travel services directly.
2. Acceptance of these terms
By joining our Facebook group, visiting our website, submitting forms, messaging admins, or using any information shared by WHW Tips & Tricks, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
If you do not agree, please do not use the group, website or associated services.
3. Information shared in the group and on our website
All information shared is provided in good faith and for general guidance only.
Please note:
- Prices, availability, routes, accommodation, services, transport and facilities can change at any time
- Weather, path conditions and local services can vary daily
- Maps, distances and timings are indicative only and must not be relied upon for navigation
You must always confirm details directly with the relevant provider and make your own informed decisions.
4. Recommendations, partners and third parties
From time to time we may:
- Recommend local businesses or service providers
- Introduce members to accommodation providers, baggage transfer services, guides, taxi firms or travel agencies
- Share links, enquiry forms or contact details
Any booking or agreement you enter into is strictly between you and that third party. Their own terms, conditions, cancellation policies and liability rules apply.
WHW Tips & Tricks accepts no responsibility for services provided by third parties.
Some recommendations may involve referral arrangements. Where applicable, we aim to be transparent.
5. Payments and bookings
We do not take payment for holidays, accommodation or walking packages.
If you submit your details to a third-party provider via a link or form, any payments, deposits, refunds or disputes are handled directly by that provider under their own terms.
6. Insurance
Anyone walking the West Highland Way should take out appropriate travel insurance.
Your insurance should cover, where relevant:
- Walking and hiking activities
- Cancellation or curtailment
- Medical treatment and repatriation
- Personal injury and liability
- Loss or damage to personal belongings
Insurance is your responsibility. We do not verify policies and cannot accept liability for losses normally covered by insurance.
7. Health, fitness and personal responsibility
The West Highland Way is a long-distance walking route that can be physically demanding.
You are responsible for:
- Assessing your own fitness and ability
- Choosing suitable itineraries
- Carrying appropriate equipment and clothing
- Monitoring weather and local conditions
- Making safe decisions during your walk
If you have medical conditions, disabilities, or special requirements, you must assess suitability yourself and inform any service providers you book with.
8. Behaviour within the community
Members are expected to behave respectfully.
We do not allow:
- Abusive, aggressive or discriminatory behaviour
- Misleading or unsafe advice
- Spam, scams or unauthorised selling
- Harassment of members or businesses
Admins reserve the right to remove posts, comments or members without notice where necessary to protect the group.
9. Complaints
If you have an issue with a business or service found through the group, you must raise it directly with that provider.
If your concern relates to content in the group or member behaviour, please contact an admin with details and screenshots where possible.
10. Liability and limitations
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for loss, injury, illness, delays, cancellations or additional costs arising from your walk or travel arrangements
- We are not responsible for third-party actions, omissions or service failures
- We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of user-generated content
Nothing in these terms limits liability where it cannot legally be excluded.
11. Force majeure (events beyond control)
We are not responsible for disruptions caused by events outside anyone’s control, including but not limited to:
- Severe weather
- Transport disruption
- Natural events
- Illness outbreaks
- Government restrictions
Such events may impact your plans, and you should rely on providers and insurance where appropriate.
12. Intellectual property and content
Please only share content you have the right to post.
By posting in the group, you grant WHW Tips & Tricks permission to display that content within the community. We may remove content that breaches copyright, privacy or safety standards.
13. Privacy
Any personal information you provide via messages or forms will be used only to respond to your enquiry or pass details to relevant partners where requested.
We do not sell member data. A separate Privacy Policy applies.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Continued use of the group or website means you accept the current version.
15. Governing law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom.
We are an independent travel planning platform. We do not provide accommodation or travel services directly. Bookings are completed through independent accommodation providers and booking platforms.
