This is the rocky lochside section. Slow going.
Inversnaid → Inverarnan (Beinglas / Drovers)
≈ 13.5 miles (21.7 km)
Still technical until you hit Doune Bothy, then eases slightly.

That’s why most walkers break at Inversnaid or camp before pushing on.
🔹 Option 1 – Rowardennan → Inverarnan (Beinglas / Drovers)
(Main 7-day itinerary – shortest overall schedule)
Distance: 20.5 miles (33 km)
Time: 9 – 12 hours
Rocky shoreline for many miles. Slow and uneven underfoot.
After Doune Bothy the path becomes easier and wider.
This is the big day on a 7-day walk.
It is long. It is tough.
At some point you will say, “Surely that’s the last rock.”
It isn’t.
Sleep in Inverarnan.
🔹 Option 2 – Rowardennan → Inversnaid
Distance: 7 miles (11.3 km)
Time: 3 – 4.5 hours
Rocky lochside walking. Slow progress.
Short in distance, but not fast.
Seven miles here feels longer than seven miles yesterday.
The trail has a strong personality.
Sleep in Inversnaid.
🔹 Option 3 – Split the Section Over Two Days
Rowardennan → Inversnaid → Inverarnan
(8–10 day walkers)

3 – 4.5 hours
Inversnaid → Inverarnan

6 – 8 hours
Break the hardest stretch into two manageable days.
A steady and sensible choice.
You will enjoy the views more when you are not negotiating rocks like a mountain goat.
Sleep in Inversnaid first, then Inverarnan the next day.
